Who We Are

Welcome to Info4Parents.ca!

Your go-to resource for tips, strategies, expert opinions, blogs and stories to help parents empower and prepare their kids for an autonomous life in the real world.

This service primarily targets parents of youth getting ready for post-secondary education, a time when they have to cope with living on their own for the first time, and a time when they come across countless new challenges they have not had to face before. But by bringing together resources from across fields and disciplines around parental empowerment, this service is also valuable to parents of children at any age who are looking to get a head start on preparing their youth for the road ahead.

We are in the era of hyper-parenting, hovering, and coddling.

Many parents of the millennial generation have been accustomed to watching carefully over their children’s development, from getting them their summer jobs, to negotiating school marks, to choosing their extra-curricular activities, to handling all of their finances.

Research shows that children with active and involved parents tend to make better decisions when they are on their own, which tells us that you have a strong part to play in helping your youth develop into dynamic, creative, and powerful young adults. But the research also shows this involvement can go too far. While not helping your children through troubling times will leave them on their own and without the skills needed to make responsible, proactive, healthy and autonomous decisions, making all their decisions for them can prevent them from developing these skills as well.

From alcohol use, to part time work & personal budgeting, to career development, to coping with stress; students will inevitably face new challenges, and will often have to navigate their way through them on their own. You can’t be there for them at every moment. Instead, make sure they have all the skills needed to make the right decisions.

Info4Parents.ca is dedicated to helping parents prepare their youth for the road ahead!
